I’ve gone through some of my favorite photos from January and gave them their own gallery in my portfolio at www.through-her-lens.com
I also listed some new photos in both my Artfire shop and my Etsy shop.
And now, a haiku:
The cat and the mouse
Both grow tired of the chase
So they share the cheese.

I’ve always seen this tower from a distance, wondering what it was. I’ve done a few searches, but haven’t found a definite answer. The locals say that it is a watchtower that still stands from when the Spanish were trying to colonize Florida.
This tower is impressively difficult to photograph. It’s so tall that I fell twice trying to get just the right angle and its bright white color had me seeing spots after all was said and done. I have to say, though, that it was all worth it. The eerie feeling that surrounds the site sets the imagination running.
I wonder what those Spanish must have seen looking out of the very top windows? What did this all look like in their time?

Some days just feel black and white. Today has been one of those days. It’s a day made for hot tea and daydreams.

I had a lovely walk today. Apparently, even Florida has some Autumn colors. Of course, we have to wait until mid-January to see them.

And welcome.
To be entirely honest, which I suppose is why I started this blog in the first place, writing a first post on a blog is a lot like drawing on the first page of a sketchbook. I feel this ridiculous, immense pressure to set the tone for the entire work, which is silly really.
Journals, like art, evolve in the making.
